The demand to conform to a binary gender system and a heterosexual norm prove challenging for children and youth who do not fit the mold. The short films feature young protagonists in the midst of self-discovery as well as rebellion toward the narrow societal attitudes toward gender stereotypes and sexuality.

Pedro creates situations to draw the potential parents’ attention, while cherishing his imaginary friendship with his only toy, a doll named "Shala."
