IQMF: Shorts program

As always we kick off the Weekender with a selection of IQMF short film. Expect a well crafted program of the newest queer film in which migrant topics are being perceived from different angles. The IQMF Short Film Program celebrates storytelling that is internally driven, giving filmmakers the space to explore authentic voices and deeply personal narratives.

Zoals in voorgaande jaren beginnen we onze IQMF Weekender af met een selectie van IQMF short films. Verwacht een zorgvuldig samengesteld programma van de nieuwste queerfilms, waarin migratiethema’s vanuit verschillende invalshoeken worden belicht. Het IQMF Short Film Program viert verhalen die intern gedreven zijn en geeft filmmakers de ruimte om authentieke stemmen en diep persoonlijke verhalen zichtbaar te maken.

Synopsis:
In Rotterdam, a city rebuilt from memory and shaped by modernity, two architects meet for a singleday. Daniel, a local, is assigned to guide Emre, a visitor from Istanbul, through the landmarks of thecity. What begins as a professional tour gradually reveals their differences in freedom, identity andbelonging, almost as if Rotterdam and Istanbul themselves are meeting for a day.

Synopsis:
Lloyd Wong Unfinished, a filmmaker unearths and completes an unfinished 1990s video project by a Chinese-Canadian artist who documented his life with HIV. The work bridges three decades, offering a unique perspective on art, identity, and legacy.

This film won the Golden Bear for  best short film at the 75th Berlinale – Berlin International Film Festival this year.

But once Richie arrives, the date changes to an awkward and tense exchange of spoken and unspoken desires of the two, culminating in an unusual but exhilarating activity.
